Richie Hawtin Develops Revoltuonary Technology
There’s no doubt that social media is the new wave of doing business and promotion. No matter how hard some try not using Myspace,Twitter,or Facebook, they are eventually sucked into it. Especially if you are an entrepreneur. As a DJ using twitter I have found it nice to be able to connect with fans and other artists through this media and with twitter DJ, a product created by Richie Hawtin, I can do that and even more. Twitter DJ uses a combination of Traktor and Twitter to update a DJ’s “followers” of whatever track the DJ is spinning. It looks like this…
“is now playing: CITIZEN KAIN & PHUTURE TRAXX – Cameleon (Pfirter Remix)
9:19 PM Sep 26th from Twitt3r_DJ
is now playing: Julien Chaptal Remix – YAKINE – STICKNEY (JULIEN CHAPTAL’S E DAY MIX) V1
9:18 PM Sep 26th from Twitt3r_DJ
is now playing: 2000 and One – Honey Bush [Tobi Neumann RMX]
9:15 PM Sep 26th from Twitt3r_DJ”
Thanks to Ean from DJ Tech Tools for the heads up. Check out DJ Tech Tools for more info or Richie’s site
Weekend Recollections:Mark Flash and Los Hermanos@ The Whitestar
Friday night we made it down to Hamtramck to check out some live techno with Los Hermanos at the White Star. When we arrived, Terry Charles and Jeremy Poling were tagging some minimal techno, and there was a crowd of techno heads milling about. Good electronic music at the White Star seems so odd to me, the place seems like it’s normally a total chach club. Regardless, Los Hermanos went on around midnight and absolutely fucking killed it. Spacey, string filled, raw ass Detroit techno, that was just awesome. Gerald Mitchell is fuckin’ ill on the keys! We need more people in Detroit that could play live sets like this. I wish they would have played a little longer, but Mark Flash played a short DJ set that finished it out proper. Here’s the first part of the Los Hermanos set. Enjoy!

Review: Ibex – Eden E.P.
Having produced tracks for Carl Craig’s Planet E label, Ibex is no newcomer to the Detroit scene. With his new release, Eden, you can really tell this artist has a seasoned ear and knows the Detroit sound. Growing up during the legendary Music Institute days has molded Ibex into a talented musician able to take the listener on a sonic adventure. Each track on the Eden E.P. is loaded with deep synth tones put together in a jazz-like progression reminiscent of UR’s “Mad” Mike Banks. Although being more towards the techno side of things, this E.P. definitely crosses into the deep tech-house realm. Each track is very good on its own and I can see myself spinning all of them. If your not up on Exchange Bureau your missing out, because along with Ibex, they hold a rather impressive roster of artists new and old. So head over to Exchange Bureau’s Blog and check out these new tracks peoples.
Wait…What?-Terrence Parker and others@Club Sin
Ah yes… Friday night, another round of drunken rowdiness and house music to shake off the lingering funk of the work week. Friday night found us down at Club Sin for Manifest of Funk. I’ve been to Sin a couple times now, and I have to say it’s a a’ight venue, with one complaint…get some competent bar staff. I haven’t seen Wilhelm K spin in forever, and he was killin’ the old school house tracks and old school rave bangers. We mainly went to check out TP. We here at The Detroit Techno House are longtime dedicated fans. I mean, dude is probably the most consistent house DJ in Detroit, I have yet to see him play set that doesn’t make me wanna start dancing. Friday night, he was on fire, blowin up hot house all through his set. Here’s some video in case you missed it:

Tonight!
Cool Vibes
A lot of people hate Michigan and our drastic changes of season, but me on the other hand, loves it. Four times a year, the weather changes along with our attitudes and perspectives, providing us with a fresh outlook on things. This weekend was definitely a good start to the changes we will be experiencing, visually, physically, and sonically. When I heard Guilty Simpson would be performing with the Will Sessions Band I was totally stoked. This dude is one of the hottest rappers in Detroit and captures the essence of Detroit life in every breath, and Friday night at the Magic Stick, he did not disappoint. The band accompanying him was a nice touch that every rapper in the D should embrace. In my humble opinion, hip-hop these days needs more than just the rapper and DJ thing going on. With the band and appearances from Black Milk and Phat Kat, this show delivered! When they did Take Notice off of J.Dilla’s Ruff Draft I was going crazy ya’ll.
Here’s some video:

Saturday night took my friend B.Aware and I down to THC in Ham town to witness Mike Huckaby and Jennifer Xerri spinning some smooth deep house. The turn out was pretty good and there were good vibes going around all night. The mixing skill of these two DJ’s is remarkable. They don’t have any fancy gadgets or FX, just vinyl and skills. Xerri really impressed me with her tweaking of the EQ’s while she was mixing. Who needs Xone filters? Isn’t cutting out the EQ’s essentially the same thing, more versatile, and funner to do? The good mixing and good beer at THC Saturday put me in a deep state of mind for sure. I think thats what they are going for, so hats off to THC, Xerri, and Huck for making a perfect saturday night for me.
