Review: Ibex - Eden E.P.

Having produced tracks for Carl Craig’s Planet E label, Ibex is no newcomer to the Detroit scene. With his new release, Eden, you can really tell this artist has a seasoned ear and knows the Detroit sound. Growing up during the legendary Music Institute days has molded Ibex into a talented musician able to take the listener on a sonic adventure. Each track on the Eden E.P. is loaded with deep synth tones put together in a jazz-like progression reminiscent of UR’s “Mad” Mike Banks. Although being more towards the techno side of things, this E.P. definitely crosses into the deep tech-house realm. Each track is very good on its own and I can see myself spinning all of them. If your not up on Exchange Bureau your missing out, because along with Ibex, they hold a rather impressive roster of artists new and old. So head over to Exchange Bureau’s Blog and check out these new tracks peoples.

Ah yes… Friday night, another round of drunken rowdiness and house music to shake off the lingering funk of the work week. Friday night found us down at Club Sin for Manifest of Funk. I’ve been to Sin a couple times now, and I have to say it’s a a’ight venue, with one complaint…get some competent bar staff. I haven’t seen Wilhelm K spin in forever, and he was killin’ the old school house tracks and old school rave bangers. We mainly went to check out TP. We here at The Detroit Techno House are longtime dedicated fans. I mean, dude is probably the most consistent house DJ in Detroit, I have yet to see him play set that doesn’t make me wanna start dancing. Friday night, he was on fire, blowin up hot house all through his set. Here’s some video in case you missed it:
