To get everyone psyched for the festival this year, we compiled some tracks by artists booked for the festival and after parties. We hope while you’re cruising around the city or getting ready for the happenings that you bump this edition for some Movement inspiration. If you can’t make it to Hart Plaza this year, then you can use this podcast along with your imagination to teleport to the events. I am personally very pleased how this episode came out and hope that you all enjoy it as well. Stay tuned this weekend to DetroitTechnoHouse.com and our Twitter feed, @dtechnohouse, for live updates and reviews.

With Movement 2013 being less than two weeks away, the DetroitTechnoHouse crew is working hard and planning to provide our loyal followers with as much coverage as humanly possible. Unless you’ve been under a rock for the last month, I’m sure you’re already aware of the complete line-up.

Speaking of the line-up, it is definitely looking to be a good year as far as DJ’s go. With oldschool legends like Al Ester, Cajmere, Moodymann, Squarepusher, Masters at Work, and Carl Craig laying down the history lesson, the younger generation has no excuse not to learn and be wowed. Newer artists like Nina Kraviz, Annie Hall, and Shigeto will also be tearing it up and showing the world that good electronic music is here to stay. From Slow House to Deep House to Hard Techno and even Hip-hop, Drum & Bass, and experimental, all the electronic elements seem to be in place for a robust weekend.

If you have been to Movement in previous years, prepare to see some changes. Vitamin water is out as a sponsor and Red Bull has taken the lead as well as taken charge of the main stage. The layout will also be a little different. The music is pretty much the usual thing but has taken a slight shift. It seems that most of the artists are veterans of electronic music and there appears to not be as many of the dubstep/newschool acts as in previous years with the exception of the Electric Forest stage which still looks to be pretty cool. Also there are many Detroit locals including Audion, Buzz Goree, Bruce Bailey, Calico, Dabrye, Mr. Joshooa, Sinistarr, and Terrence Parker to name a few.

All in all, I’m sure this year’s festival will be banging as usual and we will not be disappointed. Stay tuned for more info including our rundown of all the after parties.

Record Store Day caused many in the Detroit Techno House crew to go broke recently and we managed to capture it all on video. Walter Glasshouse spliced together, for your viewing pleasure, a small documentary about Detroit shops in and around the city. We started out at Melodies and Memories, made our way to People’s Records, Flames Favorites, and ended our excursion at Detroit Threads. Along the way we talked to the store’s owners as well as some customers about vinyl, the special day, and our love for music. It’s great to see that other people still love vinyl and that there is still a demand for physical record stores in this digital age.
