Movement is like our Christmas at the Detroit Techno House, and we love getting presents early. In this case, Paxahau got on the ball months ahead of time, and gave us an excellent preliminary lineup chocked full of all kinds of electronica goodies. Lots of amazing local talent, some outstanding old school hip-hop, and lots of proper house and techno. Get your dancin’ shoes ready, Memorial Day Weekends gonna be a session.

Ok, Ok, so I’m super late on posting up something about this. Were about midway through the Redbull Music Academy in downtown Detroit which is running September 12-17th. An amazing amount of talent that will be at this event and I have heard from a close source that the overall turnout has been rather low so far, so you have a chance to get up close and personal with some Detroit music gods. There have already been several workshops from the likes of Mike Banks, Juan Atkins, Carl Craig and Theo Parrish. Tonight there will be lectures by hip hop super-producer Dabyre and legendary Motown recording engineer Ed Wolfrum. Oh yeah, and it’s all free! Just walk right in. For more info check out this link http://www.redbullmusicacademy.com/worldtour/detroit/.

I love Sunday at Movement. It’s the peak of the festival, everyone’s party vibe is going full steam, and I know that the best after parties of the weekend are awaiting me when I leave Hart Plaza that evening. This Sunday was another battle with fickle Michigan weather, but the talent that filled the line-up, and the party attitude of the crowd made it almost unnoticeable. We made a point to show up early, avoid the lines (see yesterday’s post), and enjoy some of the amazing artists that were playing earlier in the day.

Our first stop was the Made in Detroit stage to catch some house vibes from Mike Brown. This guy is a staple of the whole mid-west house scene in my opinion, and I have always enjoyed his opening sets at the various Radio Skool parties in Detroit. Mr. Brown was bringing some proper house music that had the crowd breaking in their dancing shoes for the afternoon.

Only a couple more weeks until the Movement Festival returns once again to Hart Plaza in Detroit, MI.  Tickets are slowly rising in price, so make sure you get yours now if you haven’t already.  There has not been an official schedule with times released yet, but it seems Paxahau is working on splitting the artists up between the different stages.  On the Vitamin Water Stage you will find Carl Craig, Fatboy Slim, Felix Da Housecat, Green Velvet, Kerri Chandler, and Sven Vath.  I’m guessing that this is the main stage.  On the Beatport Stage you will find Adam Beyer, Guti, Loco Dice, Marc Houle, Richie Hawtin, and Victor Calderone.  On the Made In Detroit Stage you will find Al Ester, Aril Brikha, Bruce Bailey, Claude Young, DJ T-1000, and Visionquest.  On the Red Bull Music Academy Stage we have Aux 88, Flying Lotus, Gaslamp Killer, Goldie, MiMOSA, and  Skrillex.  On the Movement Torino stage check out Ben Klock, James Zabiela, Marcel Dettman, Monolake Surround, Paul Kalkbrenner, and Venetian Snares.  Hopefully we get a full schedule soon so we can plan out our movements for this years Movement Festival.
