Walter Glasshouse here with this weeks events going down in Detroit. DJ W!ld will be headlining an event tonight at the TV Bar, and if you don’t know about him, allow me to indulge you. Growing up in Dijon, France in the 80′s W!ld was influenced by the sounds of Chicago, Detroit, and most notably Laurent Garnier. His interest was peeked by graffiti street culture, Disco, Funk, and Hip Hop, and his name is a tribute to the 1983 Hip Hop movie “Wild Style”. With his recent success of joining Cocoon’s star-studded roster, a residency at Circo Loco, and many festival appearances, W!ld is finally gaining the international attention he deserves. He has composed music for many famous fashion designers and also works with Chris Carrier under the name Catwash. He owns two record labels now, “Catwash” and “W”, and his tracks can be heard in sets of Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, and Josh Wink.
