Detroit Tracks 1.0: UR-Swamp Thing/ Ma Ya Ya

Awhile back, I had started a monthly update I had considered titling “Classic Tracks”, and it would feature some classic vinyl essentials. After some discussion, we decided given the name of the blog, the tracks should focus on the output of our fair city. So, this month begins “Detroit Tracks”. Enough boring explanation.
UR is just absolutely some of the best of the D, hands down. I got hooked the first time I heard “Acid Rain”, and I’ve been a fan ever since. Side A is “Ma Ya Ya” , some funky broken beat tech, with a sick little bass lick looped in. The vocal hook makes everyone who hears this track instantly recognize it. Side B is “Swamp Thing”. Were talking broken beat tech again, but with thick, dirty analog bass that lives up the track title. I highly recommend this track to any techno fan, I’ve had it on heavy listening rotation for like a month now.
