So we here at DTH blog are pretty nuts about anything UR, or even anything associated with UR. Thanks be that we have Detroit Threads to give me my fix for my Underground Resistance vinyl addiction. This track is one of my personal favorites, but I feel like it’s kind of a sleeper hit, I never hear to many people play it. Mad Mike is awesome, seems like anything dude touches is straight gold. I remember what first got me on this album was the artwork on the A/B labels, what a true statement to the reality that Detroit has seen in the last quarter century. On the A side is “High Tech Dreams”, a dope piece of broken beat techno mastery. Complete with spacey chopped up vocals, and a tight little synth hook, this track is straight Detroit techno, and it’s trippy how the tempo keeps changing up. On the B side are 2 tracks. “Hold My Own” is a bit slower, almost hip-hop beat with weird guitar samples and aliens vocal samples. This track would go awesome in a downtempo set. “Lo Tech Reality” pairs haunting vocals with a slowly rising, hypnotic synth, this track is a straight banger in my book. If you like your techno vinyl, definitely swoop a copy of this, and support local musicians!
