Featured Tracks: UR- Electronic Warfare

Digging through my crates the other day, I happened upon this repress that I acquired sometime last year. I have a definite affinity for all things that get released on Underground Resistance, and this was one of those represses that can’t be passed up to add to my collection.

This is kind of an odd EP, in that it’s a 2011 repress of a UR release from 1995, but it has a totally different track listing, and different edits than the original(the UR Discogs page makes better sense of it). This album has all the analog nastiness that UR fans expect spread out into 5 tracks.

The title track “Electronic Warfare (Re-Edit)” , which is my favorite on the album, is a Detroit techno banger with distorted, spaced out vocals, hypnotic drums and dark synths that demolish.

“X2” is a synth heavy, distorted electro masterpiece with UR style haunting vocal samples, and “He Speaks” is a spacey vocal loop for DJ trickery.

On the flipside, “Analog Assassin” is another UR classic techno burner with a super catchy repeating bass line and banging analog drums, and “Illuminator” is an almost ambient-ish track, with dreamy synths and lush instrumental stabs.

Check out the label website for all things that are UR, or to listen to some of their other releases, check out the UR Soundcloud page.
