The Mystery of Tiger and Woods

One of the most fascinating “trends” in electronic music over the last few years for me has been the rise of edits. Although there have been a lot of trainwrecks, and tracks that should have never been edited to begin with, sometimes the right artist (or artists) starts slicing up the right track, and magic just happens. Enter Tiger and Woods.

Tiger and Woods, or by their proper names Larry Tiger and David Woods, are a duo shrouded in mystery that have been on my radar for the last couple of years for their output of high quality disco edits, as well as their superb mixes and podcasts.  If your a vinyl lover/buyer/collector than you may be savvy to their hand printed releases on Running Back Records and their own imprint Editainment. They tend to stand out from the rest of the pack because of their attention to creating a unique, well produced edit, and the banging, sometimes obscure tracks they choose to bring back to life.

This past year has seen the pair globetrotting and playing some renowned parties and festivals across the world. We at The Detroit Techno House had the privelage of seeing them at The Movement Electronic Music Festival this past May, where we were able to catch some video of Tiger and Woods getting the crowd to break in their dancing shoes. This duo also understands the importance of social networking for touring electronics musicians. You can “track the Tiger” and see where they are landing next on their Facebook page using the Bandsintown app where you can set notifications if they are coming to your town, and they are always posting updates of their future tour plans.

One of the coolest releases of the past year of two was the Tiger and Woods “Wiki & Leaks” which was self released and can be downloaded from Soundcloud for free. It’s 15 tracks of pure disco bliss, and will give you a taste of Tiger and Woods music. Also, make sure to check out some of the mixes below to keep you moving.
